This is definately the weirdest move ArenaNet has made.
So, Skill > Time...hmm.

Because you asked so nicely.
When you're grinding for rep titles, you're playing versus the environment. Hence, PvE titles.
When you're buying Zaishen keys from a PvP player, you're not playing versus the environment. Hence, something other than PvE is involved.
And just to destroy my own argument before anyone else does, yes, I do realize there's Balthazar faction to be made by playing vs. the Zaishen Elite.
I sure as hell won't ever consider it a PvE title, and PvPers apparently don't consider it a PvP one. I guess I'll just have to call it a 'wealth title', or somesuch.

I don't see how this is considered a PvE title. Because you can buy the keys? Pretty much no PvE effort whatsoever needed. Now, if there would be emotes for completed Protector, Skill Hunter or maybe Cartographer title tracks, THOSE would be the PvE title emotes (some) people have been asking for.
The whole Zaishen chest idea has always been a bit confusing to me. It gives PvE items and you need PvP faction to open it. Who is it trying to cater to?
[edit] ^^ the term "wealth title" is a good one. Just like Drunkard, Sweet tooth and others people can max with money (yes, I do know there are people who work for their items).

If you'd look around, a lot of people are specifically asking what they would like to see from ANet.
This was far from it, by the looks of it.

The only way I can see this being met with much higher approval is if they made it retroactive in the sense that when the title is introduced everyone is given points equivalent to the amount of faction they've earned, divided by 5000 multiplied by the 5 points per key.
Which would be a lot better than just making it start fresh :\

If you think about this, this is a compromise.
People wanted a KoaBD emote. They also wanted one for the other forms of PvP play.
So they made a title to appease both the PvE'ers and PvP'ers. Is it a perfect system? No, but it is added content, and even if only 2 or 3 people worked on it, I'd say they did a good job-you can't make everybody happy.
EDIT:

As I said earlier, the only way this would be retroactive is if they implemented a counter for who opened the ZChest from Day 1 of the ZChest. Since that is unlikely, this is not, and never will be retroactive. Unless I am mistaken, and this was planned a while back and they have that counter just sitting there tallying away.
OH! And hi Regina

This. The title would actually start off seeming like somewhat of a PvP accomplishment.

It's not retroactive, so i'm being told. The only way in which this could be called PvE is that in theory it's possible to buy the title.
It's not that the effort is unapreciated, it's just mis-directed imho...

I can only speak for myself, but I think most people would prefer additions that add to gameplay, instead of belated rewards for the same old, same old gameplay. Frankly, this addition might as well not exist for me, because I'll never be bothered to grind for it.

Wasted space really.
PvEers like to title chase and get cool things.
SO now as a PvEer tries to break into PvP he spends his faction on Z Keys instead of getting unlocks toward UAX to improve himself in PvP, because he has several more reasons of incentive now to use the keys instead.
Which means A) The new PvPer is stuck running sway in HA becuase he never unlocks anything else to learn anything else and therefore never grasps PvP properly B) the new PvPer continues to run his superleet PvE build thats not a super leet PvP build in RA because he wants ZKeys instead of UAX an has nothing else to run, therfore again failing to properly grasp PvP.
So a "casual" PvPer is less likey to make the move over to "serious" PvPer because he lacks the skills/equiptment/knowledge to do so. And with the ever present "Get Rich quick Transmogifier Tonics" calling to them with each "lottery" ZKey, why bother ulocking skills?
With the change in Rewards it has been surmised that the competition level in high end PvP will drop off as people who sought RM rewards move on to other games, a perfect door opening for the low level to new level PvPer to move into other forms of PvP than RA/AB. But refering to my previous paragragh the need for items/titles will out weigh the want for further involment into Higher forms of PvP an that level of PvP will not get the needed new influx of players as the old move on and these areas will suffer.
Dumb title, dumb emote, hurts PvP.
A Balt faction title track would have been alot better choice here. GIve it a level 6-7 to display a trophy in the HoM and you could grab a bit more activity in PvP, all this does is create Key selling/buying spamming in Balts island districts. It's a waste of space, balts title would have been so much better.

I dont see the problem with titles anyway. I myself just use them as Achievements. (think x360), If you dont like how you dont have yours as fast as everyone, then quit using it as your E-Testis (patent pending). and just get them for fun.

Because people are contradicting idiots?
Though, to be fair, adding a new title doesn't mean they added new content, just some extra grind.
Edit: Nice change of the thread title, trolling OPs with thread titles that have nothing to do with the topic make finding relevant discussions of issues impossible.

Personally, I think they should just base it off of your total Balthazar faction. If they want to tie Z-Key into this than just have opening a chest add 10k to your total faction. (Not actually adding faction before someone misunderstand me) That would make the title buy-able but people could still get it from PvPing in general.

I just dont see point.
Why does anet keep adding titles that are not fun to get?
Clicking on stack of beers every minute is not fun.
Opening Thousands chests chests is not fun.
IDing Thousands item is not fun.
Now this? Is this what anet imagines that player players enjoy? Or are they stupidly wasting resources on stuff that only few disfunctional people would chase and which is not even cool to begin with?
Is this another example of impossible carrot stuff that would form core of gw2 gameplay?

someone who has a clue Oo. But he is absolutly right. People will only pvp now for keys and for the title and wont spend any faction on skills or anything to help them get better.

Exactly my thoughts. They were probably finding some way to justify this. I think they see us all as kids and they use that to try to appease to us. I think, at that point, we were meant to say "WOW! COOL!"
